About the Author
Don Tapscott is the CEO of the Tapscott Group and the bestselling author of Wikinomics, The Digital Economy, and a dozen other acclaimed books about technology, business, and society. He is currently the fourth most influential management thinker in the world, according to Thinkers 50. He is an adjunct professor at the Joseph L. Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto and the Chancellor of Trent University.
Alex Tapscott is the CEO and founder of Northwest Passage Ventures, an advisory firm building blockchain companies. In 2014 he wrote the seminal report on governing digital currencies for the Global Solutions Network program at the Joseph L. Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto. Prior to founding Northwest Passage Ventures, he worked for seven years in investment banking in New York and Toronto.

Mostly harmless

An interesting read, but for the most part a harried chronicling of people and trends (mostly people) in a hyper dynamic space. A lot of Nobel laureate name dropping (to which, to their credit, they admit!). Has the feel of someone trying to get a book out there to take advantage of the thirst for new insight. Some good brain candy.
Would have expected a better "primer" on how block chain actually works. Given the audience this tome appears aimed at, a few paragraphs ("How this worldwide ledger works") seems a bit under-serving - particularly for such an avowedly history-changing paradigm. Readers must understand this thing before trusting it, which for the most part is mysterious and geeky. Demystification would help move blockchain out of the comfort zone of PhD's into the realm of the mere unwashed (in which this reviewer sits). And nothing on the mystery surrounding Satoshi himself - what's up with that? Given that we're dealing with a new trust paradigm, doesn't the fact of his anonymity (existence?) not at least merit some comment?
Only part I would recommend is found at Chapter 10 "Showstopper issues"... Ironic, of course but best analysis is here!

Don and Alex Tapscott believe that the blockchain will have a greater impact on our lives than any other technology that exists today. Considering the activity in mobile, big data, virtual reality and artificial intelligence, that’s an extraordinary belief. The Tapscotts’ book, “Blockchain Revolution,” is a great introduction to the blockchain and where it may take us. The father-son team assert that today’s Silicon Valley disrupters, such as Airbnb and Uber, are vulnerable to being disrupted themselves by blockchain-based business models.
Things I Liked: Authors' credibility, show-stoppers chapter and good examples
Nitpicks: No detailed technical description of how the blockchain workds. Other than the show-stoppers chapter, the book could get a little too techno-utopian at times.
Recommendation: This book is a great introduction to the blockchain and how it may impact the world. If you want a technical description, you'll have to look elsewhere. I have a more detailed review on my blog at jamespflynn.com.

Worth reading

This is an attitude-shifting argument that trust is what holds us back. I would like to see more evidence that blockchains are being incorporated into the work of more people and businesses. This might be the next great cultural revolution or it might be wishful thinking. Either way it is worth a read.
