PreSchool-Grade 1-The bunnies that introduced wee ones to the alphabet, counting, and time are back in this merry little travelogue. The family sets off for a vacation filled with just about every mode of transportation imaginable, including a car, train, ferry, tractor, and, finally, an airplane ride home. The rhyming text allows children the chance to shout out the missing last word before the turn of the page: "Bunnies pedal over the hills,/Chasing, racing, taking spills,/Jumping ditches, getting stuck./Now, bunnies, hop into the-." Each colorful spread is dominated by a particular conveyance and hides a visual hint on how the creatures will get to their next destination. For the story's sake, these animals have handlike paws. The closing spread fails to show how the bunnies get from the airport to their home, an omission that stops the fun of the visual game. Still, the book is amusing, and children will enjoy guessing the next words and looking for the clues.

On each spread a visual clue foretells the next kind of travel, and the last word of the rhyming text is left off, to be revealed on following page. The anticipation and the guessing game work together to forestall questions about the time frame: How long are the bunnies gone? The question is subtly dealt with when the family returns home to find green vines climbing the walls of their home: the potted plant depicted on the opening pages has apparently been growing for some time. As in the three previous Bunnies books by this team, the detailed illustrations are lively and colorful. Preschoolers may need some help understanding the ending, but most kids will quickly catch on to the gimmick and scrutinize the picture scenes for hints about the mode of transportation the bunnies will choose--from train to tractor, from boat to balloon. Love this book!

I have a ton of books for my young kids, but this is really one of my favorites. The pictures are just delightful -- fun for the kids to look at and for me (I find something new in there every time I read it). And the words are cute and talk about different forms of transportation.

This particular copy that I ordered was in great condition and I happily gave it as a gift.

Love this Bunny series.

My 2-year old loves these books. There is enough detail in the illustrations that it keeps her attention for a long time.
Because this one rhymes, she also was able to remember the story more and recite some of the phrases from memory.

Bunnies are a big hit with our shorties

This book has been a perennial favorite of my nephews and niece for many years. This is not the most literary, hip book that I've given them, but the one that they ask me to read the most. I think the simple story works well with the toddler set, and the bunnies are cuties.

A real gem

This book was a surprise. I tend to like books of this sort, and have read quite a few of them. By the title and brief description, I thought it might be a sort of middle-of-the-pack choice, the purchase of which was spurred by my respect for the authors (perhaps for interviewing Krishnamurti...). In any case, I have found wisdom, sanity, insight and inspiration on virtually every page. These authors and this book really have something extra to contribute, compared to other "find meaning in your work and life" works. It is spiritual and practical at the same time, rooted in an expanded perception of reality and traditional wisdom, and doesn't fall into the "just wish for pie in the sky and it will be yours" trap. It will make you feel good, but not so good that you forget your own responsibility in making things work. Lots of meaning packed into not so many words. This is my go-to book for help along the path of struggle that some times in life can be, the best book of its kind I have found. Doesn't emphasize one religious or philosophical viewpoint. Very much relevant to living. At least this is how I found it, and I hope others do the same.

Bought for a friend who was searching for work. Ending up keeping it myself when I started reading it (bought another copy for friend.) Poignant and relevant to more aspects of life than just work. A must read for anyone who is spiritually-oriented and committed to making a difference in life; for themselves, their family and friends, and the world. Extremely relevant to the changes we are currently and will be faced with. Truly uplifting, inspirational, and worth reading again and again. A MUST READ.

Profoundly Spiritual and Profoundly Practical

I want to give a copy of this book to everyone I know: I kept having that thought while I was reading the book and moreso now that I have finished it. Which means to me, that I should not give it to anyone but to apply the ideas contained in the book in my own life.
"True Work" is as important as anything that Joseph Campbell has written. It comes from Michael and Justine Tom's own life experience and contemplation of that experience.
The book shows how to integrate work into one's fabric of life, because work is one of life's threads, but it is not the whole cloth. Again, it is a profound work.

I am a senior executive who has worked in the investment industry for over 25 years and have read thousands of personal investment books in that time. I have three degrees including degrees in finance and economics and an MBA.

I speak regularly on retirement saving strategies and am frequently asked to recommend books for investors, and this is my choice. Although it quotes UK examples, its advice is relevant for any investor.

This book clearly summarises a huge amount of financial expertise from the most trusted academic sources in terms which can be understood by the layman. It does not 'talk down' to the reader but offers an excellent and comprehensive overview of personal investment strategy. This book offers you the best advice for building your wealth, period. It includes sound advice on how to build and execute your plan.

It is well illustrated and comes with good summaries. The bibliography is excellent.

I took the time to search on the internet for Mr. Hales address and personally congratulate him on this book - I have never done that before - the book is that good. Please read it, we need more people like Mr Hale to share their knowledge with the public.

"Smarter Investing- simple decisions for better results " by Tim Hale is the clearest, best written introduction to intelligent investing published in 2006. Hale reiterates the simple truth that the individual investor cannot beat the market over the medium term, nor should they try….…What makes Hale's book so persuasive is the fact that the author spent so much of his professional life working in active fund management companies, sort of poacher turned gamekeeper. The book is well written, draws the reader step by step into quite complex arguments without resorting to jargon and technique short cuts. At the end of book both the novice and the hardened investment specialist will come away better informed and armed with the tools necessary to make your money work harder for your future.

If you only ever read one book on investing this should be the one.

About the Author

Tim Hale has spent over 15 years in the active investment management world, working in London, New York, Hong Kong and Tokyo. Currently he leads his firm Albion Strategic Consulting, in providing consulting and investment training to the investment and wealth management industry, which he set up in 2001 after working at Chase Asset Management (now part of JP Morgan), in both sales and strategy roles. This experience has provided a unique insight into the struggles that most investors face, an inside view of good and bad practices of the industry and a determination to share this knowledge through his consulting and training business, and this book.

Tim holds an MBA from Cranfield School of Management and an Honours degree from Oxford University. He lives in Devon with his wife and two young daughters, writes articles on investing for fun and disappears regularly to work with his clients in the US and the UK.

a nice read on financial planning and smarter investing

This is a nice book and I think it is a reality check for all mutual fund investors.I liked the section on how to build smarter portfolio with a mix of bonds,equities and alternative investments and all their variants. There are several goal setting tables that help you define what you want to achieve from your investments during the accumulation as well as distribution phase. Influenced by Index investing, it points out the implications of costs,taxes and their impact on fund performance.The eye-openers are really thought provoking and for sure will help you avoid some of the follies made by a bad investor. This is highly recommended for the conservative and the smart investor.

This book is getting me through school!!!

I bought this book as a complement to my main therapeutic book, but ended up using this book as my main one. Starkey goes into amazing detail and goes over each physiological effect of each modality. This is important so we know what each therapy does at a tissue and cellular level, Will be using this book for a long time,

Knight's book on modalities is much better, in my opinion

This is a decent book for modalities. It has some organization issues, and I found myself having to look back and forth through certain sections to find information that could have been included in the same area. Knight's book on modalities is much better, in my opinion.

About the Author
Sebastien Falletti has been the Korea correspondent for the French newspaper Le Figaro since 2009. He covers political and business news across Asia. Born in Paris, Sebastien is now based in Seoul and Shanghai.

Eunsun Kim grew up in North Korea. At age 11, she fled the country and began the harrowing 9-year journey that led her to freedom. She lives in South Korea with her husband.

Emily Woo Zeller's multilingual, multicultural framework led to a natural fit as an audiobook narrator. While she specializes in Asian American narratives, Emily's work spans a broad spectrum, including young adult fiction. She won an AudioFile Earphones Award for her narration of Gulp by Mary Roach.

An inspiring, learning experience

This is a wonderful book that shows what life is like in North Korea and the extremes that people are willing to go through to escape from that country. The author and her family went through horrendous things in order to get to freedom in South Korea. It filled me with gratitude for many things in my life that I take for granted such as food, clothes, a warm house, peace and safety, and modern conveniences. It made me appreciate the country and community that I live in.
It amazed me that such living conditions exist in North Korea in the 21st Century. I kept reminding myself that these things were happening now and not sometime in the 1800’s. Also, it was an eye opener to how the people are brainwashed and controlled by the government to the point that they don’t know what is really happening in the outside world or even to think for themselves. They only hear and see what the government wants.
All in all it is a book that keeps you reading just to find out if the author survives. It is tragic, inspiring, suspenseful and enlightening. I would recommend it to all adults as well as high school and middle school students.

A moving tale of courage

Not sure whether the author has used her real name, but it is not detracting from this story of courage and a girl's unshirkable desire to live a normal life. Not only is it confirming the Kim regime's disrespect for human life, it is also shedding the light on the Chinese government's lack of moral compass to protect refugees. If you have a heart for the plight of the common people of North Korea, this is another book that would cut through your heart when you experience with the author the human misery, hardship and pain which became part of every day life in that country, and when they are on the run ... But, it is also a book of hope, as mirrored in the author's unquenchable thirst for life, and through the efforts of those "invisible" ones on the escape routes, risking their own lives to give another a chance on life too.

I enjoyed this very engaging autobiography of a brave girl

I enjoyed this very engaging autobiography of a brave girl, her sister and her mother. What an amazing trip they had and there were so many setbacks, it would have been tempting to give up, but even as they were starving and freezing, they were determined enough to not quit and escape their country's prison walls.
It was interesting and a bit scary to hear what North Korea was and is like, how the people are brainwashed to be afraid of all other countries and the struggles that regular families have to endure. Watching your family starve and still not thinking that there was something wrong with the government or its leader amazes me. It made me glad to live where I live and to appreciate the many things I take for granted each and every day. I would recommend this book to others.
