A must-read for all "The Play" fans

This Christmas story was pure perfection. It was sweet, funny and sexy. Just the right short read to cheer you up! I loved meeting again Lachlan and Kayla from "The Play" - one of my favorite books this year. Grab a cup of your favorite hot drink and your e-reader and enjoy the magic of Karina Halle's words ...
Kayla has left her job, friends and family behind in San Francisco to live with her boyfriend Lachlan. She is still struggling to adjust to her new life in Edinburgh. She misses her brothers and still grieves for her beloved mother who passed away recently. Lachlan is in therapy because of his alcoholism and is doing quite well. The demons from his past are still haunting him but he intends to stay strong for himself, his supportive family and loving girlfriend. Their relationship is now stronger than ever after they went through some tough things previously. Both feel the need to make each other happy and their first Scottish Christmas together unforgettable. Kayla is supposed to celebrate with Lachlan's family - his charming parents, his nice brother and his grumpy grandfather McGregor - which makes her very nervous. Is it going to be a success or a fiasco? You have to read this fantastic 5 stars novella to find it out!
I was once again reminded why I love this amazing couple so much. Lachlan and Kayla accept and complement each other perfectly. They are a match made in heaven. The strong Beauty and her good-hearted Beast. There is so much raw passion going on between these two they will make your kindle burst into flames.

Lachlan and Kayla perfection

I finished this book with tears in my eyes and wanting to continue reading about their story forever and ever. What a perfect, magical novella about Lachlan and Kayla. First of all, you can feel the love and passion the author has for this story, these two characters all through the book. And that combined with her talent make this novella a perfect read.
What I love the most is how it captures that Christmas is not a happy occasion for everyone despite what their faces may be showing. Some of us may be battling inside demons that are especially very hard to fight during Christmas, or as with Kayla it may be the first Christmas without a much loved person and it's hard, so very hard. In Winter Wishes we can see how the love Lachlan and Kayla have for each other made it possible to live through difficult moments. I love them.
It's of course super steamy with some scenes that will leave you panting because the chemistry these two characters have is perfection, it's intimate, raw, emotional.
It also made me laugh a lot with lots of funny moments.
It's hard saying goodbye to Lachan and Kayla but I'm so happy where Karina has placed them in their life and I look forward to see how they are doing in The Lie, Brigs McGregor story coming up Feb. 15.

Read it. Now. I'll wait...

Any book you love is too short as was the case with this one, but it's a novella not a full length novel. So you know going in it won't be long. I'd say it took me an hour or so to read it? I have loved every book in this series and this was no exception. When I read the last page of 'The Play' i was slightly heartbroken that I'd have to wait until February for the next book. I think Karina took pity on the withdrawals we were all having because this is the perfect book to tide us over until February when 'The Lie' comes out.
The Play skipped over Lachlan and Kayla's first Christmas together so it was nice to be able to go back to that time and relive it with them. To see that everyone has family drama and difficult times around the holidays. The best way to get through is with the person (and dogs) you love the most and a little humor.
