About the Author
Allan R. Coletta is a chemical engineer with�extensive�manufacturing operations, supply chain, and engineering experience�gained while working in the chemical process and health-care diagnostics industries. His Lean experience started while serving as site manager for ICI Uniqema’s largest specialty chemicals plant in North America and continued to expand his role as Senior Director of Engineering for Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics. His passion for manufacturing and engaging people in continuous improvement continues to grow through personal application of Lean principles.
Allan serves on the Delaware Manufacturing Extension Partnership’s Fiduciary and Advisory Boards and is a member of the Delaware Business Mentoring Alliance. He is also a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and the Association for Manufacturing Excellence (AME).

Thank you! Excellent book
By Lean leader
This is the first book that has explained 3P and most of the major Lean principles in a way that is easily understood by the masses. The content is comprehensive, clear and walks you through not only HOW to do a 3P event, but WHY you should always do a 3P before any significant resource investment.
The practical application was very useful for anyone that is just starting out in their lean journey as well as the most-seasoned leaders. I feel this is a must read for anyone either starting up a new process or considering a revision to their current process as the payback is tremendous.
Excellent book... There are so very few books out there explaining the 3P process and you've done a fabulous job with a dry subject! Thank you for taking such care in creating this valuable resource. It's worth it's weight in gold.

Of limited value
By change agent
The major problem I have with this book is a basic error. The book confuses Takt time with Cycle time which is such a fundamental concept in the lean community that if anyone had properly proof read the book it should have been corrected. For a person who is a newcomer to Lean concepts they are going to get confused by this mistake. The book walks through an extremely detailed example of how to run a 3P event that could have been condensed down in one third the number of pages. Definitely not worth the cover price.

Outstanding How-to-Guide!

This book is a 'must read' for community colleges serving industrial communities, and manufacturing companies seeking to improve their processes through effective hands-on employee training. Coletta did an excellent job of effectively spelling out all of the components associated with the Lean 3P process and providing much experience-based detail. The book is loaded with diagrams, tables, illustrations, templates, and examples, all of which make it easy to follow along and understand each step of the process. Highly recommended!
