Love this book!

Great book with useful information. I've been a student of LOA since long before The Secret hit the scenes and I love to see that so many authors have books with different point of views and tips.

I actually used Ken's book to manifest my dream job recently and it took three days to show up. He lays out the movie technique as a tool for manifestation and it's a great way to get clear on what you want to create. It's also a wonderful way to get into regular manifestation practice. I highly recommend his technique as it worked for me!

An excellent and game-changing addition to the literature on manifesting. Not just another manifesting book with many different techniques, but the author describes a new discovery: how our thoughts take form in real time. Manifesting 123 has powerful information, and is very easy to read and understand. The author gets right to the point and gives the reader an easy-to-implement routine for bringing what he or she desires into reality and greatly diminishing those fears. The methods are very easy to put into practice and I have already had success with changing my life for the better. M123 makes so much sense, and, best of all, it works!

This is the book the Christian Right should fear, and Michael Moore wishes he wrote

There is a battle raging in the United States. The fight over secular versus sectarian values. The Christian right is fighting to create the perfect theocracy while the secularists, well, they are busy removing ten commandment displays and suing cities over Christmas parades.

At least that is what author CJ Werleman sees and highlights in his new book Crucifying America: The Unholy Alliance Between the Christian Right and Wall Street, and it is hard to argue with him.

Politicians across the nation from Senator Wendy Davis standing up for women's rights, or Senator Elizabeth Warren standing up against the Wall Street cronies, are taking the fight we should all be fighting to the government. Yet atheists and secularists seem to get wrapped up in winning small battles that do not change the direction of the country. As the Christian right becomes a small and smaller percentage of the country, we continue to allow them to be the dominant faction.

Werleman's book is a call to action. Asking atheists what they plan to do to end the Christian's right attack on our rights, to healthcare, to public education, to minimum wage and their calling for the destruction of unions and even, a women's right to choose on abortion issues or same-sex marriage issues.

While we are liking memes on Facebook that state we support marriage equality, the Christian right are writing bills and raising money to end it wherever possible. While we are worried about the names of holiday parades, the Christian right is defunding public schools and funneling money into publicly funded yet privately owned charter schools, leaving millions of minority students behind. There is a war happening, and the Christian right is running a distraction play right in front of us and we the moths to the flame. From the very onset of the Supreme Courts decision on Citizens United, the Christian right has enacting policy after policy to further their agenda.

Crucifying America is a book that needed to be written, and wants to be read, it is the book Michael Moore only wishes he could write. This is a political action book for those who do more than watch The Daily Show or simply watch MSNBC. This is a book based in cold hard data laying out in plain details the war that the secular world is ready to lose if they do not act now.

Attacking capitalism at its core, dismantling the entire libertarian agenda, and removing the curtain from all of the rights political distractions, Werleman reveals the real trouble the right is in and what we can do to knock it out once and for all. This book is the match needed to ignite the torch of revolution in the secular world and bring the fight to the Christian rights front door. The only question is, will you pick up the torch and burn that door down?

Mother f***er...

The title of this review was my line of thought throughout the majority of Werleman's piece. Not at the author, but at how outrageously blind our country, nay our citizens, have become. A book that ties together the historical "need-to-know" moments, in the same vein as Howard Zinn, and the blunt presentation of the audacity of the right, similar to "American Fascists". If you aren't outraged, then you are ignoring the problem!

Werleman shows, through carefully documented statistics, quotes, and polls, how the US has let the evangelical right, content with embracing ignorance and creating distractions to deter from the real problems we NEED to face, thoroughly penetrate us all from behind. Sans lube.

I'm so glad I read this book, and others should take the time to read this. As Werleman states in the beginning, we're winning the wrong wars. So let's arm ourselves with his insight and fight back!

A funny, masterfully written and important book

CJ Werleman strikes out against the dangerous mix of politics and religion and deftly reveals where the GOP and the Christian Right are coming together to set a political agenda that favors the rich and the ideologically pure. With an acerbic - and often hysterical - wit, Werleman skewers many of the darker goings-on in American politics and, armed with brilliantly reported facts, makes it clear why this is an issue everyone should fear.

This is an important piece of work, written fearlessly and with great humor. It goes far beyond the standard talking points and blather of the right and left and gets at the inner workings of the influential people and groups who speak love-for-country as a means of hiding their own self interests. And Werleman pulls no punches in dealing with those who falsely claim a mantle of moral superiority while clinging to the purity of "good old days" that never were.

Read this, and encourage others to do the same. It may well help Americans recognize that, sadly, much of what's being said under the name of God in politics is little more than self-serving chicanery.

Born of Ibo parents in Nigeria, Buchi Emecheta is widely known for her multilayered stories of black women struggling to maintain their identity and construct viable lives for themselves and their families. She writes, according to The New York Times, with "subtlety, power, and abundant compassion." Her numerous novels include The Slave Girl, The Family, Bride Price, and The Joys of Motherhood.

Stéphane Robolin’s essays have been published in several journals including Research in African Literatures, Modern Fiction Studies, and Literature Compass. He is an assistant professor of English at Rutgers University.

The Idea Is Everything... But Reality Is Something Else

When a society values Motherhood, but not the women themselves: it is warped, hypocritical, and sexist wherever it is in the world, (Africa, Europe, Asia, or the Americas)...and this is so whatever the culture or its religion (Indigenous, Muslim, Christian, or otherwise). This is the essence of Buchi Emecheta's outstanding African novel, THE JOYS OF MOTHERHOOD. Although it is set in colonial Nigeria (pre and post World War II) the struggles of its female protagonist, Nnu Ego, are really the struggles of all women---which are: to find meaningful self-fullfilling roles in their societies...a struggle that continues to this day.

Patriarchal and sexist societies rarely view women as having any role greater than that of baby-makers. And even worse, almost all of them are culturally biased to value male infants more than females. They hypocritically proclaim to value motherhood, but devalue women, and even the mothers themselves. They proclaim a great love for infants, then reject adequate societal care for the children (this is particularly true in the U.S.). We might think that only primitive and indigenous societies are guilty of such blatantly sexist practices, but (as a by-product of male patriarchy) it remains standard practice around the world---for all religious fundamentalists, all pro-life fanatics, and for all arranged marriages. The women and daughters get no respect...and no say...and no choice. They get cultural B.S. and religious hype---in order for them to accept that being a mother is the greatest honor of a female's life--and that without being a mother (mostly of sons), they will remain unfullfilled. But, given adequate alternatives, most women would probably see right through this (along with the practice of their men having multiple wives) as being exactly what it is...self-justifying, male, sexual con. And yet, most of them would also acknowledge a part of this con as being absolutely necessary for Life itself to continue.

I believe there CAN BE joy and a dignity in being a mother (if that's what a woman chooses for herself), and IF she has love, money, help from her partner, and adequate care-giving skills. Similarly, I believe there will also be despair and family dysfunction when ANY of these things are missing. The current rise in social pathologies in the U.S. mirrors the concurrent rise in single-parent, female-headed, households. Too much of our thinking and social lives have become singular in emphasis, individually selfish, as well as socially and sexually disjointed, and out of balance. Women themselves must be seen as (and also become) more than JUST mothers, and men themselves must be seen as (and certainly become) MUCH MUCH more than just sperm-donors. Our current social reality shows that it will take all of this. [And love, respect, and more money wouldn't hurt a thing either.] Otherwise, simply as products of a sexist culture, we are ALL just liars and hypocrites, at best; and destroyers of hope and a better future, at worst.

I just recently discovered the novels of Buchi Emecheta--sharing her stories and her perspective on the world (along with other excellent, Black, female, writers.) I keep reading, and I keep learning. My journey continues, and I hope yours does as well. Read, learn, and enjoy. I certainly did.

Sad Story but Worth the Read

The Joys of Motherhood in many ways is a cautionary tale for not only African women but all women. It beautifully written and conveys the experiences of African women so clearly and authentically. Overall a wonderful read that will tug at your heart strings but definitely illustrates the harsh realities that some women face as mothers in their communities.

There are not many people who can say that they became a millionaire at the age of 24. Daniel Ally has done just this. In fact, he has done this against incredible odds. I met Daniel many years ago, before he became the accomplished speaker, business man, and success coach he is today. "The Winner's Lifestyle" is loaded with practical advice and wisdom for anyone that desires a lifetime of success, accomplishment, and service. It's never too late to take control of your life!

Right on time

I recently made the decision to leave my corporate job because my ambition to achieve personal goals and live a life with more value wouldn't allow me to remain on the corporate plantation. I'm glad I finally took the time to read this book. The methods and practical advice given I'LL be using as I transform to take control of my life. This is a must read for those seeking change and willing to learn.
